Mini-Ninjas -
Major Fun on a Serious Note
The Mini-Ninja program at Bendell Karate was
started by
Mrs. Bendell in the
early 1990's and was was the first program in southern Colorado for
pre-school
karate students.
It has since been copied by many of our
competitors. Three, Four, and Five
year-olds attend one thirty-minute class per week (at a cost that works
out to
$25 per month) and learn the basics of what we teach in a
less-structured, fun
atmosphere. When learning how to step forward in a front stance, for
example,
they think they are learning how to walk like a dinosaur.

Mrs. Bendell has several helpers with the program, including black belts
Trudy
Carroll and Amy Cullen.
The first graduate of Bendell
Karate's Mini-Ninja program to reach black belt
was Michael Martinez, of Florence, CO, has a second degree junior black
belt,
and has grown up and is now a
teen-ager. Michael is a two-time United States
champion and five-times Colorado State champion, and is on the Gold
Honor Roll
at school.
