Orange belt karate student Ashley Reichert grabs up a bag of donated toothpaste
and toothbrushes from a bin of other donated items, such as microwave popcorn,
cookies, and breakfast bars, as she prepares care packages for Bendell Karate's
"adopted soldiers" -- part of an "Adopt-A-Soldier" project the karate school's
youth have initiated. Ashley and her brother Tyler raised over $1000 in monetary
donations for the project. |

Tyler and Justine focus intensely on preparing notes to soldiers that will be
added to care packages being sent overseas by Bendell Karate students who have
"adopted" groups of soldiers as part of a youth project. |

Brennan and Ashley sit and sort among donated items. |

Bendell Karate Black Belt Club members, a few of which are shown here at a belt
testing in January at Florence High School, are patriotically gung ho in
supporting U.S. troops in an "Adopt A Soldier" campaign. |
