BENDELL KARATE

Demo at the 2005 Caňon City Blossom Festival

Pueblo West karate student Ashley (front) gets ready to "throw down" with three would-be attackers (and fellow Pueblo West residents) Zarren (L-R), Joshua and Andrew. Other students and instructors look on or await their turn to do self defense skits..

Master Don Bendell readies a carrot on Master Joshua Bendell’s stomach in preparation for slicing the carrot in half while blindfolded.

Master Don Bendell’s sword is coming back up from having cut a carrot in half on his son’s stomach.

Cortlyne shows how to take care of an attacker (played by Mr. Dasher) who won’t take “No” for an answer.

As a line of students look on, two brothers and their sister – all Bendell Karate Black Belts, demonstrate a synchronized kata to music.

“Oops! Somebody left their kick out too long!” Master Joshua Bendell snags Tyler’s kick in a fun, demonstration sparring match which highlights how our younger, smaller students can fearlessly face larger opponents.

With the crowd looking on, Bendell Karate Master Instructor Joshua Bendell recoils his leg back after breaking four 1X12X10 pine boards -- with no spacers between boards -- using a side kick at the recent Blossom Festival. Board holders Rod (front) and Steve wisely shut their eyes and turn their heads to avoid any splinters.
