Mr.
Ken Stevens
3rd Degree Black BeltAppliance Service and Repair Specialist
SEARS, Pueblo, Colorado
Third Degree Black Belt Mr. Ken Stevens began study with Bendell Karate in
1992. He won a number of first places in sparring and grappling
competition and earned his first degree black belt along with his daughter
Ms. Bambi Stevens.
Mr. Stevens moved away with SEARs to Salida for several years, finally
returning with them to Pueblo. Several years ago, while fishing with his
son K. J., the two slipped on wet boulders on the side of the hill.
Immediately, grabbing his son up in his arms protectively, Mr. Stevens
twisted his body to protect K.J. and fell downward, still holding the boy,
landing on the back of his head, which caused bleeding, edema
(brain-swelling), and Mr. Stevens was paralyzed for a long period.
The concussion and resultant amnesia caused him to forget the katas
(forms) he had ever learned. Mr. Stevens has fought back patiently and did
teaches classes but work is keeping him away from the school, but he does many things behind the scenes
for Bendell Karate. He is completely over his paralysis, except one side
of his face relaxes when he is overly tired.
His wife, Teresa, was the very hard-working president of the non-profit
Bendell Karate Booster Club for a number of years. |
